Japan solar project for Bartica launched

The Ministry of the Presidency (MotP), through the Office of Climate Change, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), on July 13, 2017, launched the Japan-Caribbean Climate Change Partnership (J-CCCP) in Bartica, which will see the town benefiting from a 20Kwp grid connected Solar Photovoltaic (PV) system at the 3-Mile Secondary School along with the installation of energy efficient lighting, as well as light-emitting diode (LED) street lighting.

Guyana ranks 6th out 180 countries when it comes to ‘Air Quality’ – latest EPI study by Yale university

The 2016 Environmental Performance Index (EPI), a Yale-based initiative that evaluates how 180 countries around the world protect ecosystems and human health, has ranked Guyana as 6 when it comes to ‘Air Quality’.

Mr. Chairperson, I am honoured to speak on behalf of the fourteen member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). CARICOM thanks the Secretary General for the various reports issued for the 61st Session of the Commission on the Status of Women.
