RP PEACEKEEPERS IN LIBERA. Filipino peacekeepers in Liberia were presented with UN service medals by Ambassador Jordan Ryan, deputy head of the UN Mission in Liberia, in ceremonies held last week in Monrovia. In his speech, Ambassador Ryan commended the invaluable contribution of the Philippines to UN peacekeeping operations, particularly in Liberia where a contingent of more than 150 military troops help secure the UN headquarters in that country. The Philippines is a consistent supporter of UN peacekeeping missions with more than 600 military troops and police officers currently serving in 10 UN operations around the world.
