RP PEACEKEEPERS IN LIBERIA. Members of the 165-strong Philippine Peacekeeping Contingent in Liberia, led by Army Col. Dictarino Sugon, received their United Nations peacekeeping medals from Ambassador Allan Doss, Special Representative of the Secretary General, during ceremonies held recently at the Philippine contingent's headquarters in Monrovia. Filipino peacekeepers have been serving as the Force Headquarters Support Unit of the UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) since 2003. They are among the 672 Filipino military and police personnel that are presently deployed in various UN peacekeeping missions worldwide.
