UAE Hosts Panel Discussion at UN on "A Transformative Approach to Transitional Justice: Building a Sustainable Peace for All"

At the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the UN, moderated a panel on "A Transformative Approach to Transitional Justice: Building a Sustainable Peace for All." The panel discussion was the fourth part of a Panel Series on Women, Peace and Security hosted by the UAE, in partnership with UN Women as the Secretariat of the Global Study on the Implementation of Security Council resolution 1325 (2000), and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.
 

UAE's UN Representative attends tribute to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia

Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, attended a tribute to the memory of late King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, on Monday at a plenary meeting of the General Assembly. She was accompanied by a delegation of UAE diplomats posted at the mission.

The event included statements from the United Nations Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Sam K. Kutesa, both of which acknowledged the remarkable impact he made in his country and world affairs.

Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the UN, yesterday moderated a panel discussion on "Women, Peace and Security in the Context of Climate Change," as part of a panel series on the subject hosted by the UAE, in partnership with UN Women as the Secretariat of the Global Study on the Implementation of Security Council resolution 1325 (2000), and the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace and Security.

The first UAE national to join the staff of the United Nations Headquarter in New York, Ms. Ahood Abdulla Al Zaabi, was seconded recently to assume her role as ‘Advisor on Humanitarian Issues, Health and Culture’ at the Office of the President of the sixty-ninth session of the General Assembly. Ms. Al Zaabi provides advice on humanitarian affairs by monitoring and liaising with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), as well as working with relevant UN Agencies and other stakeholders including WHO, UNAIDS, the Secretary-General’s Special Envoy on Malaria, GAVI, the Global Fund, and by closely cooperating with UNESCO and other organizations on cultural issues.

UAE, Commonwealth of Dominica sign Joint Communique on Establishing Diplomatic Relations

The United Arab Emirates and the Commonwealth of Dominica have signed a Joint Communique on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries.

The UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nation in New York, Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, signed the joint communique on behalf of the UAE, while Ambassador Vince Henderson, Permanent Representative of the Commonwealth of Dominica to the United Nations in New York, signed on behalf of his country.

UAE Contributes 1m USD to CERF

The UAE provided a US$1million donation to UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund that allows humanitarian organisations to respond to the world’s urgent crises.

Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, UAE’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, announced the contribution at the High-Level Conference on the Central Emergency Response Fund, CERF, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Permanent Mission of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations participated in a donors’ meeting for current and prospective contributors, chaired by Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman, on Monday. The meeting was organized by the UN Department of Political Affairs (DPA), as part of its Multi-Year Appeal 2015 Update and presentation of its funding priorities.

 The UAE Permanent Mission to the United Nations (UN) hosted 750 Ambassadors, senior UN officials and prominent New York City community leaders on Monday to celebrate the 43rd UAE National Day.

The celebration was held at New York Public Library’s iconic Astor Hall and featured an exhibition of contemporary Emirati photography. Among the guests were UN Secretary General Mr. Ban Ki-Moon and the President of the 69th General Assembly Sam Kutesa, who praised the UAE’s support for the important work of the UN during his remarks.
