NEW YORK – At the plenary meeting of the Social, Humanitarian & Cultural Committee – otherwise known as the Third Committee – of the UN General Assembly on 2 October 2019, the UAE’s youth delegates to the UN underlined the importance of empowering young people to participate in the decision-making process – a key priority for the UAE.
NEW YORK - As part of the United Arab Emirates’ commitment to continue its support to UN-Women, the UAE has announced a financial contribution of 15 million dollars to support the mandate of the UN-Women over the next three years.
The UAE’s new pledge, which was announced on the sidelines of the General Debate of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, reflects the UAE’s growing partnership with UN-Women.

NEW YORK - At the UN Security Council’s annual Open Debate on children and armed conflict, the UAE reaffirmed the commitment of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen–of which the UAE is a member–to complying with obligations under international humanitarian law, and underscored the seriousness with which the Coalition takes its responsibility to protecting all civilians in armed conflict – particularly children.
NEW YORK – At the UN Security Council quarterly Open Debate on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, the UAE called on the international community to uphold its responsibilities to ending the suffering of the Palestinian people and establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital – in accordance with relevant international parameters and the Arab Peace Initiative.
NEW YORK – During the meeting of the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Chiefs of Defense Network on 10 July 2019, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the WPS agenda and announced the second round of the UAE-UN Women Military and Peacekeeping Training Programme for Women, which is set to launch in January 2020.
NEW YORK – At the UN Security Council Open Debate on threats to international peace and security: linkages between international terrorism and organized crime, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to continue implementing best practices and the most advanced international initiatives to combat the linkages between organized crime and international terrorism, including by combating money-laundering and strengthening border security in the interest of maintaining international peace and security.
NEW YORK – On 9 July 2019, the UAE and UN Women announced the second round of the military and peacekeeping training programme for women at the Khawla bint Al Azwar Military Academy for Women to be held in January 2020 and to also include participants from the African and Asian region.
