This year, Tuvalu proudly took part in the UN International Bazaar held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. We were honored to be part of this special occasion and would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our Pacific Islands family-Fiji, Samoa, Australia, and others for their wonderful ideas, teamwork, and efforts in showcasing the beauty and diversity of our cultures to the world.
Tuvalu contributed by showcasing our traditional seashell necklaces, one of the most cherished cultural items we Tuvaluans offer to guests as a symbol of appreciation and friendship. These necklaces are lovingly handcrafted by our women, who work tirelessly from gathering shells from the sea to carefully creating each piece, ensuring they are beautifully presented, especially for important occasions.
The Permanent Mission of Tuvalu to the United Nations also wishes to acknowledge and commend the hard work and dedication of our fellow Pacific Missions in creating such an eye-catching and meaningful display. The Pacific booth was awarded the prize for the Best and Most Unique Decorated Table and raised over USD $2,000—a wonderful achievement that reflects the spirit, unity, and resilience of our Pacific family. What a rewarding and memorable day for us all!
