Her Excellency Dr Eselealofa Apinelu delivered Tuvalu’s statement at the High-Level Panel on Violence Against Women and Girls during the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women at the United Nations Headquarters on 12 March 2026.

Highlighting the urgent need to address intimate partner violence, H.E. Apinelu shared Tuvalu’s national initiatives, including the establishment of the Gender-Based Violence Task Force and the launch of the We Care Guidelines — a survivor-centred framework to strengthen justice and support services across all islands.

Through national action, regional collaboration, and community engagement, Tuvalu is committed to transforming norms, improving access to justice, and ensuring the safety and dignity of women and girls.
