High Level Solutions Dialogue on Climate Change Adaption

Earlier today at UN Headquarters, the Prime Minister of Tuvalu, H.E. Feleti Penitala Teo, delivered Tuvalu’s statement at the High-Level Solutions Dialogue on Climate Change Adaptation.

For Tuvalu and other Small Island Developing States, adaptation is the line between survival and disappearance. The Prime Minister called for an Adaptation Package at COP30 that delivers real protection, backed by finance that reaches communities when it matters: timely, predictable and accessible.

He invited partners to work with Tuvalu through its National Adaptation Plan and Tuvalu Survival Fund, frameworks that are nationally owned, transparent and rooted in Tuvalu’s culture and knowledge. These provide a clear pathway for support that is effective and grounded in the needs of our people.

The Prime Minister also recalled the International Court of Justice recent ruling that developed countries have a legal obligation to provide climate finance, including for adaptation, to those most affected and least responsible. He closed with a stark reminder that the realities facing SIDS today foreshadow what awaits the world if urgent action is delayed.
