A brief, yet solemn memorial event was held at the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York this morning (12/11) with the participation of the Mission staff, in honour of the late Most Ven. Maduluwawe Sobitha Nayaka Thero, Leader of the National Movement for Social Justice and Chief Incumbent of Naga Vihara, Kotte, Sri Lanka.
A two-minute silence was observed in memory of the late Most Ven. Nayaka Thero, which was followed by an address by H.E. Dr. Rohan Perera, Ambassador and Permanent Representative, highlighting the late Nayaka Thero’s religious and social service to the country, and in particular the crucial role he played in ushering in a new era.
