First Regular Session of the Executive Boards UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS

Mr Dominic Misiolo Sofe, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Samoa delivered Samoa’s statement during the first session of the Executive Boards of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on 25th January 2018 during the UNFPA segment.  

Speaking after the presentation by the Executive Director of UNFPA on progress of implementation under the Funds new Strategic Plan 2018 – 2021, Mr Sofe encouraged early and effective implementation of the strategic plan as it reflects UNFPA’s contributions to the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.  He encouraged UNFPA to work closely with member states to strengthen their national capacity and to respond to their requests based on their national plans and strategies for sustainable development.  UNFPA was commended on its Strategic Plan’s support to country efforts to strengthen data collection, analysis and use, to help track inequalities and to inform decision making towards the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. Mr Sofe thanked donor countries for the funding support towards the work of UNFPA.
