Description of Duty:
The FOURTH COMMITTEE (Special Political and Decolonization Committee) deals with a variety of subjects which include those related to decolonization, Palestinian refugees and human rights, peacekeeping, mine action, outer space, public information, and atomic radiation. On peacekeeping, the Philippines participated in 16 UN Peacekeeping Operations (PKOs) since 1963: Western Sahara, Central African Republic, Mali, Haiti, Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, South Sudan, Golan, Cyprus, Lebanon, Abyei, Kosovo, Liberia, India & Pakistan Ceasefire Line, Cote d’Ivoire and Jerusalem. The Committee considers 16 resolutions in the seventy-second session of the General Assembly. The PLENARY deals with a wide range of issues and agenda items not referred to the Main Committees. The Plenary considers 41 resolutions at the seventy-second session of the General Assembly.
