UNITED NATIONS EXPRESSES SOLIDARITY WITH THE PHILIPPINES AFTER THE TERROR ATTACKS IN DAVAO

05 September 2016 — The Secretary of Foreign Affairs conveyed the Philippine Government’s appreciation to the United Nations for the expressions of sympathy and solidarity from the international community.

The members of the UN Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly terrorist attack in Davao on September 02, during which at least 14 people were killed and over 67 injured. 

The 15 Member-body, charged with the task of maintaining international peace and security, expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of the Philippines and wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured.

The UN statement reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security and underlined the need to bring perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of terrorism to justice. END
