Khalifa bin Ali bin Issa Al-Harthy
H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Ali bin lssa Al-Harthy, Permanent Representative of the
Sultanate of Oman to the United Nations, presented his credentials to the United
Nations Secretary General on September 9, 2016.
From 2009 until his latest appointment, Ambassador Al-Harthy served as his
country's Ambassador to Egypt and its Permanent Representative to the Arab
League. At the same time, he served as Non-Resident Ambassador to Cyprus.
A career diplomat, Mr. Al-Harthy also served as the Sultanate's Ambassador to
Germany from 2005 to 2009, concurrently holding the position of Non-Resident
Ambassador to Swiss Confederation, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland
and lceland. From 1998 to 2005, he was his country's Ambassador to lndia and
Non-Resident Ambassador to sri Lanka, the Maldives, Nepal, singapore,
Seychelles and Mau ritius.
He has also held various Government Posts in Oman, including with the Office of
the Advisor to the Sultan for Economic Affairs from LggT to 1998 and the
Economic and Technical Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs from 1996 to 1997, prior to that he served as a diplomat at the Omani
Embassy in London.
Ambassador Al-Harthy holds a master's degree in international and diplomatic
studies from London University and a bachelor's degree in international relations
from the American lnternational University in the United Kingdom.
Born on 21, August 1963, he is married and has four children.
