UN Chamber Music Society of the UNSRC | Benefit Concert for Rohingya Refugees | Monday, 25 June at 7pm

UNHCR reports that more than 671,000 Rohingya children, women and men have been forced to flee to Bangladesh escaping violence in Myanmar since 25 August 2017.  As a result, Bangladesh has witnessed the world’s fastest growing refugee crisis.  The humanitarian situation could be greatly exacerbated by the fast-approaching monsoon season.  All proceeds from today’s benefit concert will be directed to BRAC, one of the largest international development and humanitarian organizations based in Bangladesh.

At the concert, a message from the UN Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres, will be delivered.  The Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Masud Bin Momen, will be delivering opening remarks; followed by remarks by the Director of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) in New York, Ms. Ninette Kelley.  The UN Chamber Music Society of the UNSRC is proud to collaborate with the Brooklyn Raga Massive, featuring the performance of Rabindranath Tagore’s "Amaro Porano Jaha Chae" ("All that my heart desires"), arranged by Craig Klonowski for the UN Chamber Music Society of the UNSRC.
