After a successful event devoted to human rights, the Mobile Film Festival is supporting the United Nations ActNow campaign for climate action this year.

This international festival, based in France, is launching a news contest dedicated to the fight against climate change in partnership with UN Climate Change (UNFCCC), the UN Regional Information Centre (UNRIC), and YouTube’s Creators for Change.

The call for films went out on 27 August. The rule is simple and remains the same: One mobile, one minute, one film. And for this edition, one theme: ACT NOW.

Filmmakers, amateur or not, have until 16 October to submit their films.

UNRIC began supporting the Mobile Film Festival in 2015, at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21). The festival highlighted the challenges of climate change.

In 2019, with the support of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the European Union, the Mobile Film Festival celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The 50 pre-selected films had 21 million views on YouTube.

UNFCC and UNRIC will promote the call for films and rely on the support of the network of United Nations Information Centres around the world to make the current film festival a success.
