Let me first thank the delegation of the People's Republic of China for introducing the important resolution, “Observer Status for the Boao Forum for Asia in the General Assembly”.
We thank the Secretary-General for including the item in agenda of the 74th Session.
Mr. Chairman,
Since its inception in 2001, the Boao Forum for Asia has become a very important platform for discussion and sharing of experiences on pertinent issues confronting our region and beyond.
Annually, the governments, businesses and academia hold interactions and exchange ideas in a broad array of issues concerning economic and social development, technology and innovation among others.
As one of the initial member, Nepal has been regularly participating in the Forum.
Nepal believes that the Forum can make significant contribution for further deepening economic cooperation and achieving the goal of overall development of the entire continent.
In this context, Nepal also being one of the co-sponsors of this resolution, urges all Member states to support this resolution.
