On 12 March 2018 the 62nd session of the Commission on the Status of Women on topic Challenges and Opportunities in Achieving Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Rural Women and Girls has started its work.
On 8 March 2018 the side-event Time is Now: Rural and Urban Activists Transforming Women’s Lives which was arranged by UN-Women. UN Secretary General António Guterres, President of the 72 UNGA M. Lajčák, UN-Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Minister of Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop, Chair of the 62nd session of Commission on the Status of Women Geraldine Nason, NGO representatives and representatives of movie industry and art took part in this event.
During the current session, which will be held from 6 to 9 March 2018, the Commission will consider a wide range of issues related to data and indicators for the Agenda of Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.
On March 2, 2018, a high-level United Nations event took place in New York City on the occasion of World Wildlife Day. The delegation of Kyrgyzstan headed by A. Rustamov, Director of the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, participated in the meeting as one of the main speakers.
