H.E. Ms. Mirgul Moldoisaeva is not only among the roughly three dozen women who serve as the Permanent Representatives of their country to the United Nations in New York, she is also among the youngest. So, too, her country – the Kyrgyz Republic or Kyrgyzstan - was among a group of former Soviet Republics that joined the United Nations only in 1992 following the collapse and dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991 and their emergence as sovereign states in their own right.
On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, an opening of the photo exhibition was held at the UN Headquarters in New York, organized jointly by the Permanent Missions of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan
Kyrgyzstan was included in the list of 39 countries that paid their contributions to the UN budgets in full and without debts for previous years.
The President of the Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambaev signed a decree on declaring April 30, 2017 a day of mourning in the Kyrgyz Republic.
