JOHNSON SMITH EXTENDS CONDOLENCES TO UK AND ITALY

Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith today stated that Jamaica expresses its deep concern at reports of a suspected terrorist attack on innocent pedestrians in the vicinity of Westminster in London, as well as reports of an increasing death toll resulting from a collapsed bridge in Genoa, Italy. She extended sincere sympathies to those injured and to the families and loved ones of persons who lost their lives in the separate unrelated incidents.

JOHNSON SMITH TAKES SEAT IN CELAC QUARTET, PARTICIPATES IN CELAC-EU MINISTERIAL MEETINGS IN BRUSSELS

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smithis in Brussels for meetings of the Foreign Ministers of CELAC and the Second EU CELAC Foreign Ministers Meeting.
Johnson Smith will represent the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on the Extended Quartet of Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC) until December 2018 having assumed the position on Monday, July 16 in Brussels Belgium joining the Foreign Ministers of Bolivia, Ecuador and El Salvador and Dominica Republic.

HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS TO BENEFIT FROM DIASPORA SCHOOL BUILDING EXERCISE IN TRELAWNY AND PORTLAND

The Jamaican Diaspora in Canada through the Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation (HHJF), working closely with the Jamaican Consul General in Toronto and Food for the Poor Canada will be constructing the Wakefield Infant School in Trelawny and the Mount Pleasant Basic School in St Margaret’s Bay in Portland. Members from Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation and the Toronto Carpenter’s Union from different Locals (27, 46 and 1030), some of whom are Jamaicans have been in Trelawny since Sunday, July 1, executing these projects.

HISTORIC INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE JAMAICA/PANAMA JOINT COMMISSION

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade will be hosting its first inaugural meeting of the Joint Commission between Jamaica and Panama. This is to promote and facilitate cooperation between both countries in the field of economic and technical fields.
Jamaica will focus its attention in providing technical assistance to Panama in the development of sports, culture and education. Panama in return, will assist Jamaica in the areas of aviation, ports and tourism.
