UN promotes post 2015 development agenda with massive-scale projections depicting new goals

In commemoration of the United Nations 70th anniversary and anticipated adoption of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, massive-scale projections of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) illuminated the north façade of the Secretariat building and west façade of the General Assembly building at UN Headquarters on Tuesday, 22 September 2015.

When the delegations from the 193 Member States arrive in New York this month through John F. Kennedy International Airport, they will be greeted by various messages welcoming them to the city - and celebrating the United Nations 70th Anniversary as well as the adoption of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

That was an extraordinary moment, when Ambassador Macharia Kamau of Kenya, as one of the two co-facilitators of the negotiations for the outcome document for the Summit “Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” banged the gavel in early August. There was a standing ovation and cheering by diplomats at the conference room in the UN Headquarters.
