The President of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, His Excellency Mr. Abdulla Shahid, has appointed Her Excellency Ambassador Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett and His Excellency Osama Mahmoud Abdel Khalek Mahmoud, Permanent Representative of Egypt, as co-facilitators to lead the intergovernmental process for the establishment of the United Nations Youth Office.

Today, the Permanent Representatives met and had a fruitful discussion on the way forward with the process of establishing the Office.

The United Nations Youth Office forms part of the “Our Common Agenda” report of the United Nations Secretary-General and will integrate the current activities of the Office of the Envoy on Youth, continue to lead high-level advocacy and serve as the anchor for United Nations system coordination and accountability on youth matters in areas on peace, sustainable development, humanitarian issues and human rights.
