“The need is enormous. We are finding explosive hazards in every street, every house, every alley, every piece of infrastructure.”  Pehr Lodhammar (UNMAS Programme Manager from Iraq).

On Thursday, 20 September 2018 at 7:15 p.m., the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) will open an exhibition entitled “Safe Home,” at Photoville, the largest photographic event in Brooklyn, New York City.

The UNMAS exhibition will highlight the challenging and demanding work that the organization carries out to create a “safe home” for almost two million internally displaced people in Iraq.

There will be a special, personalized Photoville highlights tour followed by a short ceremony. The Permanent Representative of Iraq to the UN Mohammad Hussein Ali Bahr Aluloom, the photographer Cengiz Yar and the UNMAS Programme Manager from Iraq, Pehr Lodhammar, will make remarks.

Following the opening, there will be an informal reception. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Come one, come all!
