“Djibouti: A World Class Logistics Hub and a Trading Gateway to Unleash the African Economic Potential”

En effet, ce side-event s’inscrit dans un processus visant à engager nos partenaires dans la mise en œuvre effective du développement de Djibouti et de notre continent pour faire des objectifs du Millénaire pour le développement (OMD) une realite sur le terrain.

Les profondes relations qui s’opèrent aujourd’hui nous interpellent au plus haut niveau et nous projettent dans des défis majeurs auxquels nous devons faire face.

Dear Guests,

The strategic location of Djibouti, its political and economic stability, its modern port sector and internet connectivity, (six submarine cables land in Djibouti) are assets that offer Djibouti the opportunity to strengthen its position as a regional hub for a large number of activities, (financial, ICT, logistics).

Therefore, making it a strategic gateway for small or medium enterprise and multinational corporation who planned to establish or strengthen their position in the region and beyond.

Despite the recent acceleration of growth, the private sector in Djibouti is still embryonic, recognizing this, the Government of Djibouti has initiated, through its Vision 2035, a program of transformation and diversification of the economy aiming at job creating on the ground for all.

At a time when trade is facing incredible headwinds and questions are being raised about the utility of regional integration processes, the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), is a welcome bright spot!

By seeking to deepen economic integration of the African continent by creating a single continental market with free movement of business, people and investments, the AfCFTA is a testament to the power of cooperation and a shared vision.

Djibouti en tant que plateforme de transport multimodal régional est en passe d’accroitre son rôle privilégié de carrefour central pour le transport multimodal dans la corne de l’Afrique et au-delà grâce à sa situation géographique avantageuse et à son économie stable et ouvert.

Ceci dans une forte politique de création d’emploi en accord avec nos engagements internationaux et plus particulièrement la résilience face aux changement climatiques qui affecte notre région.

De par le positionnement géographique de Djibouti et le rôle que notre pays su préserver dans la sécurisation de l’une des voies maritimes les plus fréquenté au monde, Djibouti peut attester du rôle majeur de la coopération international face à des défis commun tel que la lutte contre la piraterie maritime.

The organization of this side event on the eve of the launch of Djibouti’s candidature for a non-permanent seat at the United Security Council for the term 2021-2022  not only allowed for a candid and constructive dialogue between private & public actors, it also allowed for the exchange of experiences with other UN member countries.
