The 2018 United Nations Institute for Training and Research catalogue, which provides, inter alia, a detailed overview of the Institute’s diplomatic training courses, orientation courses and lecture series, as well as a tentative calendar of events to be held this year at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, is now available online.

Known as the training arm of the United Nations, UNITAR is dedicated to developing capacities to enhance global decision-making and support country-level action for shaping a better future. Its vision is that of a world in which knowledge-empowered people, institutions and organizations achieve results to overcome global challenges.

In 2017 alone, UNITAR NYO delivered 28 trainings in a wide variety of key areas such as strengthening multilateralism, advancing environmental sustainability and green development, improving resilience and humanitarian assistance, and promoting sustainable peace to nearly 900 participants, including high-level officials, diplomats and other stakeholders. It is also in charge of organizing the annual High-level Political Forum.

UNITAR NYO works with the Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York to deliver key diplomatic trainings, such as the recent Orientation Course on the Work of the Economic and Social Council, sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Spain.

UNITAR NYO leverages academic partnerships to deliver the highest quality of trainings, such as the Conflict Resolution, Mediation, and Negotiation certificate programme, which will also be delivered this year in partnership with Columbia University.

Perhaps one of the most important additions to this year’s calendar of events is the Office of Information Communication Technology Series, given the vital need to keep up with an ever-changing world and analyze the benefits technologies could bring to the UN and how they may change the policy-making process.

Apart from the 2018 catalogue, up-to-date information on upcoming seminars and courses can also be found on the website
