The new Permanent Representative of Bhutan to the United Nations, Ambassador Lhatu Wangchuk presents his credentials to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 08 January 2009.

The Kingdom of Bhutan was admitted as a member of the United Nations on 21st September 1971. Since being admitted to the fraternity of nations, Bhutan has always attached great importance to the purposes and principles of its UN policy as an integral part of the country’s foreign policy within the context of Gross National Happiness.
