A national workshop on "Investigation and prosecution of terrorism cases in connection with the threat of foreign terrorist fighters" has got underway Tuesday in Algiers.
The workshop, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and funded by the Embassy of Japan, will focus on themes relating to international legal framework on the fight against terrorism.
It aims at developing a policy to strengthen laws on security and fight against terrorism, said the organizers.
Many Algerian experts and officials will participate in the three-day workshop along with international experts.
Since the launch in November 2013 of Japan's new foreign policy focusing on peace and stability in the Sahel regions, North Africa and the Middle East, two workshops have been held in partnership with Algeria under the aegis of UNODC.
