EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini started Wednesday evening a two-day working visit to Algeria.
At Houari Boumediene International Airport, Mogherini was greeted by Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ramtane Lamamra.
In a press statement, the European official said that during her visit, several security and economic questions will be discussed with the Algerian party.
"I often meet Lamamra who is a good friend. We work a lot on several questions which are important for both Europe and Algeria, like the situation in the region, notably Mali and Libya but also the security question, counterterrorism and the Algerian-European economic cooperation," she added.
Mogherini, who is visiting Algeria for the first time since she took office as EU High Representative said that "Algeria is a very important country for Europe."
