Ad Hoc Working Group on Informatics

The Ad Hoc Working Group on Informatics was established by ECOSOC under resolution 1995/61 of 28 July 1995 with the general mandate of facilitating the successful implementation of the initiatives taken by the UN Secretary-General with regard to the use of Information Technology.

In conjunction with the Information Technology Services Division of the UN Secretariat the Ad Hoc Working Group on Informatics has, over the years, promoted a number of practical initiatives for providing delegates some basic IT tools. These include for example the provision and maintenance of appropriate hardware and software, the availability of official official documents via the Internet, facilities for website hosting, and wide spread access to electronic databases and other information sources.

With the assistance of the Secretariat the Ad Hoc Working Group on Informatics has published a small booklet entitled Internet Services for Delegates, which gives details about the Internet based tools, services and resources available to delegations.
