The significant work is underway in Uzbekistan to develop the national applied art and trade, the Khalq sozi nationally-read newspaper reported.

For example, the Alisher Navoiy Joint-Stock Company that operates in the city of Marghilan pays special attention to reviving the rare samples of the ancient carpet weaving.

The Marghilan carpets are famous for their unique design, grace and colorfulness. They are made with love and mastery and attract potential buyers with their original beauty of colors and patterns. The colors of these carpets remain fresh and bright at a span of many years.

At the moment, the glory of Marghilan carpets is revived anew. Also, the growth of demand for them is now observed. The number of young craftsmen, who are interested in carpet weaving, grows at the joint-stock company. Over 180 workers who produce high quality products work at the company.

With a goal of increasing the production volume the loans worth 500 thousand US dollars were allotted by foreign partners. The new looms have been installed at the shops which would allow to employ over 300 young men and women.

A special attention is paid to employing the population based on the home-stay work. The women, who stay at Yurmaduz and Shildirma makhallas (the local neighborhood community areas), as well as Zarkent village of Tashlak District signed the contracts for the home-stay work.

More than sixty types of carpets are being produced at the company. Given their beauty and quality they can perfectly compete at foreign markets.

The long-term plan of the company is to establish a handmade carpet weaving Center in Marghilan at the Alisher Navoiy Joint-Stock Company and this way to create about five thousand new jobs as well as increase the production volume and nomenclature of goods.
