The constructors have finished building the new reservoir of torrent waters in Altynsay District of Surkhandarya Province, the Uzbekistan National News Agency reported.

The new hydro-facility is built by constructors at the LLC “Oltinsoy MKJ” in the district that specializes basically in gardening and vine growing.

“The reservoir is constructed of rocks” the chairman of LLC “Oltinsoy MKJ” Toshmirza Togaev said. “We have executed more than 180 thousand cubic meters of earthwork. Before, in a rainy springtime the torrents caused a serious loss to water and gas pipelines, as well as roads at foothill villages. With launching the new hydro-facility this problem has been addressed. Henceforth, the torrent waters will gather in a reservoir.

It allows improving the water supply at five villages in the district and ensuring irrigation of sown areas almost at two thousand hectares of land. Therefore, the farmers plan to develop 200 hectares of new land and expand the areas for gardens.

“We are deeply satisfied from the work done in our country on the initiative of President aimed at increasing the living standards of rural population and providing for its prosperity,” said the aksakal (elected local person at neighborhood community areas out from respected and elderly residents) of Obshir village Khidiraly Tillaev. “For many years we had a water shortage for irrigation. The new reservoir will make the productivity of land increase, which will serve for the growth of incomes of farmers.”
