The work on municipal betterment, improvement and planting of greenery proceeds in Karshi, the administrative capital town of Kashkadarya Province, the Narodnoye slovo Russian-language national newspaper reported.

The local residents have so far planted more than 200 thousand of saplings of fruit, ornamental trees and flowers at makhallas (the local neighborhood community area), parks and streets, and along the roads.

“Our city is changing and getting more attractive day by day,” said the chairman of Karshi branch of “Makhalla” Fund Yashin Rasulov. “We plant thousands of tree saplings and flower sprouts in the framework of planting of greenery every year.”

According to him, this year they have planted such trees as Japanees safora, chestnut, black archa (local type of fir-tree), pine, almond tree, apricot and persimmon. The people of Hudoyzot, Khontepa, Roguzar and Otchopar makhallas are proving to be the most active at improvement works.
