On March 17 this year the Second foreign ministerial consultations were held in the city of Tashkent with participation of deputy foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
The sides discussed the state and prospects of the Uzbek-Vietnamese relations in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The sides also had an exchange of views on the urgent international and regional issues of mutual interest. The sides stated the similarity of positions on the urgent issues of global nature that include the problems of security and stabilization of the situation in Afghanistan.
The sides accorded importance to the prospects of investment cooperation in the framework of counteracting the influence of financial crisis. In particular, they have considered the opportunities of establishing the joint ventures, including on the basis of Free Industrial and Economic Area in the city of Navoi, as well as taking the Uzbek products to the perspective ASEAN markets through the city of Hanoi.
The sides have come to an agreement to hold the next foreign ministerial consultations and the sitting of the intergovernmental commission in 2010 in the city of Hanoi.
