Last year the cattle-breeders of Kyzylkum astrakhan farm of the Konimekh District in Navoi Province produced 6,000 astrakhan fells and about 400 tons of meat, according to the Narodnoye slovo newspaper.
From year to year the look of the center of the farm – Uchtepa aul – is changing. A profound attention is being paid to developing the sphere of servicing. The dekhkan market, where all necessary conditions for sellers and customers were created, is now operating.
More than ten shops, drugstores, barber’s shop, footwear-repair shops, as well as a veterinary station are located there. Establishment of small enterprises which process leather, produce furniture, as well as do the construction and repair works promote the rise of level of employment of local people.
For example, by now the Kizilkum-sur enterprise has employed over ten young people of aul. After processing non-typical astrakhan fells they make pretty and quality goods. In particular, the astrakhan fur-coats, women’s mantles and children’s clothes are in big demand.
“Based on contracts we deliver our goods to domestic market,” the head of the enterprise Risbek Kojanov said. “This year we are going to expand assortment of our goods and increase production. This will allow to create new jobs for the residents of the district and increase their incomes.”
