The seminar on the topic “Woman and law” dedicated to raising the legal awareness of women was held in Jizzakh, the Khalq sozi newspaper wrote.

The reports concerning the point and significance of legislative acts directed to protecting the social and economic rights of women were read to the participants of the event organized by the Jizzakh Regional Women’s Committee alongside with the law-enforcement bodies.

Those who took a floor at the seminar spoke about the essence and significance of legislative acts aimed at upholding the social and economic rights of women.

The seminar was organized by Jizzakh Regional Women’s Committee and local law-enforcement agencies, the newspaper also wrote.

The representatives of the regional prosecutor’s office and department of justice have analyzed the execution of laws at the local levels related to protection of women’s rights.

In 2008 the law-enforcement bodies of the province held among women about 1.000 events on legal propaganda. They have also organized many seminars, workshops and roundtables dedicated to protecting the labor rights of women and combating human trafficking. For example, the number of stories on these topics has noticeably increased at the local media.

Last year in comparison with the year 2007 the incidents of committing various violation of law by women came down. It is also seen as a result of broad legal propaganda work.

The seminar participants discussed in detail the issues of execution of resolution of president of July 8, 2008 on measures to increase the efficiency of counteracting human trafficking and further raising the legal awareness of women.
