On April 5 Tashkent hosted the regular meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers.

The foreign ministers of the Commonwealth countries discussed a wide range of issues on integration cooperation in the sphere of international politics. A number of draft documents, aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, security and other areas of cooperation were considered.


The ministers of foreign affairs reviewed the issues of implementation of the multi-level interministerial consultations within the Commonwealth in 2012 and approved a plan for 2013. The Statute of the Consultative Council of the heads of consular services of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the CIS was also endorsed.


Participants of the meeting discussed the draft of the Agreement of CIS countries on the mutual recognition of documents on higher and higher vocational education, the Action Plan for 2013-2015 to implement the strategy of development of physical culture and sports in CIS countries till 2020, the Protocol to amend the Agreement on cooperation in establishing of a single (universal) educational space in the CIS dated from 17 January 1997, the plan of main cooperation activities of the CIS countries in education spheres for 2013-2015.


Draft Concept of cooperation of the CIS countries in the fight against crimes committed through the use of information technology, the Agreement on the order of establishment and application of the joint expert groups of the border agencies to respond quickly to border security threats at the external borders of the Commonwealth were also on the agenda. The issues of amending the Regulations of the Coordinating Council of heads of tax (financial) investigation bodies of the CIS countries was considered at the meeting as well.


Taking into account the proposals and comments made during the debate, the draft documents documents will be submitted for consideration to the Council of Heads of Government and the Council of Heads of State of the CIS countries.
