A press conference, organized by the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and devoted to the introduction of modern information and communication technologies in higher and secondary special education, was held at the National Press Center of Uzbekistan. It was attended by representatives of ministries, agencies, university staff, ICT professionals and journalists.

The introduction of new information technologies in the educational process is important for the intellectual development of students and trainees, and socio-economic development of the society. Our country has achieved a great success  in this area  since independence. The policy of our government in the development of informatisation, the basic principles of which are defined by President Islam Karimov, is directly aimed at the integration of our country into the global information space. Powerful impetus to this process has been the presidential resolution "On measures for further implementation and development of modern information and communication technologies", dated March 21, 2012.

Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of Uzbekistan Sh.Kayumov and others pointed out that in order to improve the quality of training students are being taught modern information technologies and highly qualified specialists in ICT in the system of Ministry of Higher Education.

It was noted that on-line distance education programs are introduced in the official websites of  higher education institutions, which are also used for training and retraining.  Over 1,000 interactive multimedia programs and teaching aids have been prepared and implemented.

Today, a number of educational institutions and their branches merged into a single national network of e-learning on high-speed fiber-optic communication channels. The "e-education" system has great potential in the field of distance education, training and re-training, the exchange of information resources, methodological support, and monitoring of scientific and methodological potential. It also provides an opportunity to improve educational process,  organization of videoconferences with foreign universities and educational institutions in the country, high-quality and high-speed connection to the internet and the «Ziyonet», uploading  information resources and web projects, virtual labs to the network.
