A press conference on the annual report-presentation of the activity of the United Nations Population Fund - UNFPA to improve reproductive health was held at the National Press Center of Uzbekistan.

Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Komilov and others noted that extensive works on education of harmoniously developed generation, improving reproductive health, adoption of healthy lifestyle are yielding good results. Presidential resolution “On the 2009-2013 Program of measures to further strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of the process to improve reproductive health, childbirth, to upbring physically and spiritually developed generation" dated July 1, 2009 is an important guideline in this direction.

Cooperation with a number of authoritative international organizations, in particular, the United Nations Population Fund plays an inportant role in fulfilling these tasks. UNFPA is working to promote healthy lifestyles among young people, prevention of infectious diseases. This international organization works effectively in our country in areas such as implementation of population programs, increasing the efficiency of the national health system, improving the maternal and child health, providing a clean environment.

 Studying socio-demographic statuses of families and preparing young people for family life are important in formation of a healthy generation. Therefore, the UN Population Fund is implementing special projects aimed at creating a healthy family by examining demographic and reproductive health in the country. In-depth analysis of the results of these studies were discussed at the meeting.

 - Our organization, in cooperation with Uzbekistan is implementing a number of joint projects, - says the representative of the UN Population Fund - UNFPA in Uzbekistan Karl Kulessa. - A special attention is paid to population programs, in particular, improving health, increasing the medical culture in young families in Uzbekistan.
