Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov sent a note to President of Islamic Republic of Iran Mohmoud Ahmadinejad expressing his condolences following the earthquakes near Tabriz that claimed many human lives, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan said.

On Saturday, 11 August, two earthquakes hit northern-western Iran. The first with the magnitude of 6.4 was registered at 16:53 local time in Tabriz city. After 11 minutes, the second earthquake with magnitude of 6.3 hit Iran.

Close to 300 people were believed to be dead and over 3,000 people were injured in the result of natural disaster.
