The Permanent Mission of Tuvalu was established in 2001. Its office is on the fourth floor in a building owned by Israel, Eritrea and a Corporation(Philips International) on 800 Second Avenue, between 42nd and 43rd Street New York. The Commonwealth Joint Office rents the whole fourth floor of the building from the Corporation in which Tuvalu is a tenant with ten other Permanent Missions of the United Nations.
As of 2008, the Commonwealth Joint Office rental agreement has been extended for another ten years. For more, see Mission Staff
