Office of Sport for Development and Peace logo All Permanent Mission staff who will be participating in the New York City Marathon on 2 November 2008 are invited to take part as a member of "Team UN". The team will be composed of UN staff, Permanent Missions to the UN, as well as families and friends. "Team UN" will provide the face of the UN for New York City and the world.

NYC Marathon The New York City Marathon is one of the world's greatest road races, drawing more than 100,000 applicants. The race attracts many world-class professional athletes providing the chance to excel in the media capital of the world before two million cheering spectators and 315 million television viewers worldwide. As any one of the more than 700,000 past participants will attest, crossing the finish line in Central Park is one of the great thrills of a lifetime.

The marathon has also become a great opportunity to network and socialize with staff from other departments and agencies as well as colleagues in the Permanent Missions to the UN, since all Team UN members will meet in advance of the marathon and, if interested, train together.

Team UN will lead the UN runners, wearing the same t-shirts. You can be a part of Team UN by contacting the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace (Bartmann@un.org, tel: 212-963-1118).

Join the Team, carry a flag, make a difference, and support the United Nations and the city of New York.
