The Umoja (Foundation) Pilot deployment will take place at United Nations Interim Force (UNIFIL) and the Office of the United Nations Special Coordinator (UNSCOL) in Lebanon on 1 July 2013.
The Umoja solution is a streamlining of administrative processes throughout the Secretariat, facilitated by the implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software. Read more about Umoja and the way it will change the way we work at http://umoja.un.org
Umoja has installed two unique countdown clocks at UN Headquarters, unveiled by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at a special event held on 25 March, to demonstrate the approach of the deployment of Umoja throughout the Secretariat.
At the unveiling event, the Secretary-General said: “"Umoja is designed to help harmonize the way the UN works, providing a single data repository with reliable, real-time information. It is far more than an Information Technology project; it is an organizational transformation that will enable high-quality and cost-effective service delivery around the world." On 3 April 2013, UNIFIL hosted an "Umoja Open Day" for colleagues from UNIFIL and UNSCOL. The event was organized in the format of an exhibition with stands dedicated to topics such as: Introduction to Umoja, Budget Entry, Requisitioning, Procurement, Receipt and Inspection, Real Estate and Accounts Payable / Accounts Receivable, focusing on the major changes that Umoja will bring to the way business is conducted at UNIFIL and UNSCOL. This was a good opportunity to engage with the Umoja site coordinator and deployment team to ask questions about the Umoja solution. About 200 staff members from UNIFIL and UNSCOL had the opportunity to preview the Umoja system and were provided with Umoja information packs.
