This section of the website will provide delegates with detailed information on the issues of importance to their participation in the conference. It will include welcome letters from the GMUN Secretary-General and President of the General Assembly, the themes of the Main Committees and GMUN Secretary-General Reports on the issues, Delegates' Preparation Guide, and Guidelines on writing Position Papers, country assignments, brief delegates' profiles, Rules of Procedure; Code of Conduct and online research resources.
GMUN delegates will be university-level students selected through a fair competitive process by their MUN conferences or programmes. The United Nations Department of Public Information (UNDPI) has compiled a comprehensive database of Model UN conferences around the world. Quotas have been established for each region of the world, to determine how many students each Model UN programme would be invited to send to the Global Model United Nations conference. The quotas will ensure that the student delegates chosen to participate in the conference reflect the geographic diversity of the United Nations.
In addition to geographical diversity of the delegates to the Global Model United Nations, UNDPI would like to ensure that there is gender balance in the selection of delegates.
Nominations of two or more delegates by Model UN programmes should ensure equal representation of males and females.
