Welcome to the web site of the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the United Nations. Our main 
purpose is to reflect the position and voice of a country that aims to have an active participation within the United Nations. Among the main objectives of Costa Rican diplomacy is to assist in building the necessary worldwide consensus needed to strengthen international law and uphold universal values related to peace and security, democracy and the promotion and respect of human rights. Costa Rica´s active role should be interpreted as certifying proof of its adhesion to the process of strengthening multilateralism, an element inherently linked to security and the only acceptable way for the country to offer a coherent and ef fective response to international threats and challenges.
