Strengthening Global Consensus on Sea-Level Rise: Tuvalu Delivers Joint and National Statements at UN Consultation

Addressing the Existential Threat of Sea-Level Rise: Key Insights from the C-SET Expert Workshop

The Coalition on Addressing Sea-Level Rise and its Existential Threats (C-SET) organized a half-day Expert-Level Thematic Workshop, bringing together leading experts, practitioners, and Member States to deepen understanding across the four key thematic areas identified in the UN High-Level Meeting of September 2024.

The discussions provided valuable insights to help inform ongoing work toward a UN political declaration that responds to the growing urgency of sea-level rise.

Tuvalu Leads Dialogue on Climate Action and Resilience at Asia-Pacific Ministerial Mid-Term Review

On 1 April, His Excellency Mr. Tapugao Falefou, chaired and moderated Session 5 on Addressing Climate Change and Building Resilience at the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Mid-term Review of the Doha Programme of Action.

The session brought together Member States and UN agencies to exchange views on strengthening multi-hazard early warning systems, improving disaster risk governance, promoting risk-informed national planning, and supporting community-led adaptation efforts.

Tuvalu Contributes to High-Level Dialogue on Sustainable Graduation and Smooth Transition

Tuvalu engaged in the dedicated session on sustainable graduation and smooth transition held on 31 March, where Permanent Secretary Mr. Pasuna Tuaga was one of the speakers.

The discussion emphasized forward-looking policy innovation, practical and country-driven approaches to reducing vulnerability, advancing economic diversification, enhancing resource mobilization, and sustaining inclusive and sustainable growth beyond graduation status.

Advancing LDC Priorities: Tuvalu at the Asia-Pacific Doha Programme of Action Review

Tuvalu participated in the Asia-Pacific Regional Review of the Doha Programme of Action, held over two days from 31 March to 1 April in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The delegation was led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Trade, Mr. Pasuna Tuaga, and included Ambassador and Permanent Representative H.E. Mr. Tapugao Falefou, and Ms. Puakena Boreham.

The meeting brought together regional leaders and development partners to review progress, address ongoing challenges, and strengthen collaborative efforts in support of the Doha Programme of Action.
