At today’s briefing by the COP31 President-designate, Tuvalu highlighted the urgent need to turn climate commitments into tangible action. The statement emphasized the importance of scaled-up, predictable, and accessible climate finance, particularly for countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.
Tuvalu delivered a statement at the Organizational Session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Smooth Transition for LDC Graduation. Speaking on behalf of Tuvalu, PR H.E. Mr. Tapugao Falefou highlighted the importance of ensuring that the LDC graduation framework remains responsive to the unique vulnerabilities of small island developing States and supports a smooth and sustainable transition.
The Tuvalu Mission was pleased to co-host with France, Panama and Oceano Azul Foundation, a reception for the Ocean Pioneers Coalition on the margins of the BBNJ 3rd Session of the Preparatory Commission. PR Falefou underscored the importance of the BBNJ Agreement for strengthening ocean governance and reaffirmed Tuvalu’s commitment, as a large ocean state, to ambitious and effective implementation.
