As a founding member of the United Nations, which currently holds one of the non-permanent seats in the Security Council for the term 2009-2010, we attach great importance to the effective functioning of the United Nations in pursuit of global peace, security and prosperity. Thus, we strive to be an active contributor to all efforts in the UN with a view to upholding and advancing the goals and principles enshrined in the UN Charter. And we do so in close cooperation with the UN Member States, as well as all the other stakeholders, including the public at large who remain at the receiving end of our endeavors in the UN.
