ECOSOC Coordination Segment 2022

The coordination segment of the Economic and Social Council was established in June 2021
by the General Assembly, with the objective to support the Councils’ mandates, and its contribution to,
the implementation of the 2030, UN conferences and Summits and the recovery of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The theme retained for the 2022 Segment is: “Building back better from the coronavirus disease (COVID-19)
while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”.

Suriname participated in the coordination segment as Chair of the 17th session of United Nations
Forum on Forest (UNFF) one of the ECOSOC subsidiary bodies.
The UNFF Chair contributed to the panel discussion on climate and the presentation of the Forum.
The Permanent Representative of Suriname to the United Nations, Ambassador Sunil Sitaldin
accompanied by a delegate attended the meeting.

The meeting took place from 3-4 February 2022.
