Philippine Permanent Representative Lauro L. Baja, Jr. makes his first
public appearance as president of the United Nations Security Council
on Thursday, 3 June 2004, during the briefing by the United Nations Mission
in Liberia. Behind him are the following members of the Philippine delegation:
Ambassador Bayani Mercado, Deputy Permanent Representative and Anacleto
Rei Lacanilao III, Political Coordinator and Alternate Representative;

RP SECURITY COUNCIL PRESIDENCY. Ambassador Lauro L. Baja Jr., Permanent
Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations, receives Ambassador
Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan, at the start of their
bilateral meeting that signaled the formal assumption of the Philippines
as President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of June.
The Philippines took over from Pakistan which held the presidency last
