Zamira Eshmambetova, the Permanent Representative of the Kyrgyz Republic to the United Nations, presented her credentials to Secretary- General Boutros Boutros-Ghali 4 September 1996. From 1995 until her appointment, Ms. Eshmambetova worked as a Political  Officer in the United Nations Protection Force (UNPROFOR) and as a Civil  Affairs Officer in the United Nations Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina  (UNMIBH). At that time, she was Head of the Ilidza Field Office and of the  Sarajevo District Office, Region South.
