CURRICULUM VITAE AND DIPLOMATIC CAREER

Ms. Durrant served previously as Jamaica's Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1987 to 1983. Prior to assuming her current post she served, since 1992, as Director General in her country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

From 1992 to 1987, Ms. Durrant was Ambassador of Jamaica to the Federal Republic of Germany. She was also accredited to Israel and the Holy See during that period. From 1987 to 1991, she was accredited to the Netherlands and from 1991 to 1992 to Switzerland.

Ms. Durrant worked in the Political Division of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, first as Assistant Director, from 1977 to 198 1, and subsequently as Deputy Director until 1983. She was Minister/Counsellor at Jamaica's Mission to the Organization of American States in Washington, D.C. (1974-1977), Principal Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1972-1974), and First Secretary at that Ministry (1971-1972). She began her career in 1964 as an Administrative Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, a post which she held until 1970.

Born in Jamaica on '30 May 1943, Ms. Durrant received a Bachelor of Arts degree and a diploma in international relations from the University of the West Indies in 1964 and 1966, respectively. She also has a diploma in overseas development studies from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom (1970).

Ms. Durrant is single.
